Where are they now?

Where are they now?

Two aircraft played important parts in the Merlin programme.

Wessex XT768 was used to develop the icing system, and to do so completed six major trials in Denmark and Canada, between 1977 and 1984.
The Icing protection on Merlin and Cormorant has played a major part in several dramatic rescues.

XT768 is now a submerged diving wreck at Stoney Cove Diving centre, Leicestershire.

Sea King XZ570 Carried the basic elements of the Merlin mission system, making it possible to undertake important trials with the avionics suite and navigation system, well in advance of the definitive fit becoming available in a Merlin prototype.

XZ570 is now used as a rescue training aid at Predannick, Cornwall.
