In a small packet of aviation photos I was given many years ago, I now realise that what I also have is 20+ images of a British Army heavy gun crew on detachment and on manouvers in Iraq, likely during 1919. Although the originals are 3″x2″ and some are now badly faded sepia, most have restored remarkably well with a little digital massaging. Pictures include their equipment, group photos, on the move, camps and scenery/places etc.
The problem is, as an aviation enthusiast, I know nothing of historical Army forum sites, or where best to post and share what I consider to be a remarkable photo record of service in Iraq some 90 years ago. There are no clues that I can pick-out to identify the unit featured, other than it is certainly a mechanised mobile heavy gun unit.
Anyone got suggestions of a suitable place to share and learn more of these photos? I would prefer to post and display the photos than donate them to a museum archive or researcher.

Possibly, get in contact with the Royal Artillery Museum? They may even be able to provide more detail. Just a thought.

Thank you – they were great to see
My particular favourite is the next to last, which looks so like a WW1 version of Ice Cold in Alex.

I didn’t post any examples of my find of photographs depicting a British Army mechanised heavy gun crew in Iraq, 1919, because they fall well outside any section of this forum. A few of the best, now that I’ve been invited to share.

Finally, just the one of aviation interest, a 1918 built Avro 504K.

I know it’s a WWII forum but it is RA related and someone there might be able to point you to a more relevant site?
