This is really off-topic, and this is the best place I can think of to ask.
I’m after about twenty 1/4″ SP41 style locking washers, and twenty 5/16″ the same. I can find them on t’internet at proper aeroplane prices, I need these to repair a client’s Parsons gearbox from a canal boat, so I don’t need the specification or traceability of an aircraft part
Any thoughts on where I can get these at a reasonable price?

Cool, so there was Enough in the set and some assorted washers spare for future use. At least you can tell people it has been done to Aviation Spec and you have the paperwork to prove you can trace them back to manufacture if they ever recall them lol.
🙂
In fact there wasn’t. The set contains a lot of washers of many types – mostly plain or spring, but only three that I could use. So I ordered some more the right size
Paperwork just doesn’t cut it in the canal world, a handshake is far more valuable. But then, canal boats don’t fall out of the sky, do they

Just to let you know, tab washers arrived today and are installed:

I now have a canal boat gearbox with a certificate of conformity
Thank you everyone,

Whoa! Stop
Thank you Tony and Dave. I’ve ordered a mixed pack from LAS now. I need some 5/16″ for the clutch end in the picture above and some 1/4″ for the input bevel end of the bevel cluster. in the image below:

The mixed pack should do what I need, straight, ninety degree or whatever. It’s only a boat gearbox after all, and currently it has spring washers. I’d rather return it to the designed state, hence the tab washers.
Once again, thanks guys, you’ve been brilliant

I’ve got LOTS of SP41E Tabwashers and at a price far cheaper than the mainstream dealers, but only have 5/16″ in SP45 (lh tab).
Have supplied them to people re-building R-R and Bentley diffs in the past who were very happy with finding them in qty and at a good price.
Regards
Dave

They might not be all tabs, if you look here there are a lot of SP types

That’s useful. I wonder if there is one local, I’ve never had a reason to look for a Rolls-Royce dealer before
For curious minds, some of the gearbox components:

If these are the single tab and double lock tab ones you can buy them from a Rolls-Royce dealer they use them on the older cars as well as aircraft and there not that expensive
