I can only manage one trip South, so taking into account my liking for a line up outside as well as a good display , whats looking good so far?

RIAT is a full 3 day show from 2018 onwards, it was announced in 2016.
Cosford is a great show and I go every year. It can have some issues with getting in and out but they are working hard to improve this and it was far better this year. Cosford are having a 100 aircraft static line up showing the history of the R.A.F. through the years. The F4 ‘Black Mike’ has already arrived and the Defiant is going to be on show. I would imagine quite a few from the museum will join it too.

Without doubt your best bet will be to go for at least 1 day to RIAT at Fairford. The organisers have been working up plans for this show for the past 5 years. They have already announced that the Friday, which used to an ‘arrivals day’ and then became a shortened show day, will be a full show day in 2018. This means that RIAT will be a 3 day airshow. In addition, because of the number of different acts and aircraft for this event, they have also already announced that each day will feature a number of differing acts, which is unusual because previously acts on both days of the show have been more or less identical. In addition, if you like the ‘static aircraft’ offering at shows, you will not get a bigger or more varied national/international military static at any other UK airshow. If you’ve never been before you will not be disappointed.

I was thinking about going to Cosford next year but I’ve never been before or even heard anything said about the show at all.

Not sure about Scampton yet, although it is mentioned on the RAFs 100th anniversary page, as is Cosford.
