1A) Don’t know what this says but…
http://mil.qianlong.com/4919/2004/02/19/186@1891870.htm
I’d say it is something fueled by India’s
announcement of the acquistion of Russian carriers for the Indian Navy
and of India’s own indiginous carrier project.
But clearly, the article indicates that the long
awaited activities of the Varag are finally happening in Daren as
this picture seems to collaborate with this story.
Sometimes, I guess, it does take a kick in the butt before
anything will really ever happen in China and/or for her to realize
that they can’t simply just sit on something — indefinitely!!!
1 B) Another pic of the activities of Daren, or so
they say. But, clearly, and as those huge cranes seem to
tell us, the Varag silence has finally been broken…

But, is this a shot of the port of Daren???
And if it is indeed a shot of Daren: will this vessel
now be fitted with slot machines, blackjack and roulette tables, or will
it be fitted with ski jumps and steam catapults???
2) Now, an article sourced from the folks at CMF:
Odd Composition of Chinese Carrier Aviation
http://www.strategypage.com//fyeo/howtomakewar/default.asp?target=HTNAVAI.HTM
(February 18, 2004)
There is no evidence that dedicated air groups are forming for the
new PLAN (Peoples Liberation Army Navy) Project 9935 carriers. At the same time,
all PLAN fixed wing fighter and attack pilots have been required to carrier qualify on a mock up
of the flight deck of Australian carrier HMAS Melbourne.
3) This cool drawing has been circulating
in almost every Chinese web site available. I thought
I share it with everyone on this board…

I hope it’s not a piece of artwork by a member of this board.
And if it is, my apologies. However, I recommend that arts of this caliber needs sharing and hope that
the artist don’t shy from clicking pictures like this in this board.
