As I recall, my answer was, “True, but that’s a Griffon”, followed by silence.

I was privileged to see the TWO Mossies displaying together at the Mosquito Museum just before Kermit’s B35 went to America.

I would love to see that again!

Pilots: All those not around anymore, but, in particular Mark Hanna, Hoof, Neil Williams, Stefan Karwowski

The same as everybody else, and I wish I’d seen the Sunderland.

Didn’t I read that somebody’s rebuilding the RR Spitfire?

I used to work a few hundred yards from RR Hucknall (where I now fly R/c models from) and was standing outside watching the Spitfire fly around one day.
Bloke standing next to me said, “there’s nothing like the sound of a Merlin”.

So many, sadly.

The most missed however are Mark Hanna and Neil Williams.

For aircraft, the Mosquito, Sea Fury T20 (you know, the silver one), and the old Rolls Royce Spitfire XIV (RM689).

Let us all just hope that there are no new additions to this in the future.

Aircraft: Everything mentioned above, especially the SR71 as I’ve never seen one fly 🙁

Pilot: All those who have been lost really, but in particular, Mark Hanna, Norman Lees and Hoof Proudfoot.

I’d go along with the general consensus which seems to be forming; certainly Mark and Hoof are sorely missed, as are all those who are no longer with us.

In terms of aircraft, ah, so many, for varying reasons. BAe’s Mosquito, Black Six, and I’d also add the Lightning to the list as well. I’m not usually a big fan of paraffin burners, but watching an F6 stand on it’s tail and disappear was just breathtaking. 🙂

Gary Numan was at North Weald the other week, with his black Harvard. He didn’t display but did do a fairly energetic circuit 🙂

I miss seeing Gary Numan displaying G-OYAK (YAK 11), the two of then really brought the best out in one another, however i am glad to see that his music career has taken off again.

As for aircraft, I may be alone here but I miss seeing the Harvard formation team out on the circuit.

Pilot- Mark Hanna the most, but none are forgotten. Wish i had been old enough to witness Ormond Hayden-Baillee.

Aircraft- P-38, P-63 and the Mosquito.

Aircraft would have to be the ‘Vintage Pair’.

Display pilot – all of those who have lost their lives performing for our enjoyment.

One more thing I miss. Veterans. Sadly there’s not so many of them around anymore and the chances of engaging them in conversation grow slimmer.
