Which Model Aircraft Kits would you like to see made?

Years ago, I collected model aircraft kits – hundreds of them, but gave it away when I left school to earn a living.

Recently, whilst touring a large model store, I noticed many world war 2 aircraft now available as models which weren’t around in my youth. I especially noted that some kits are of aircraft which never advanced beyond the drawing board, such as experimental German jets.

That made me think – which World War 2 aircraft, either experimental, drawing board or operational, would you like to see available as a model which is not made at present, or has never been made?

Here’s a few from me which I think would make great models –

Martin Baker MB-5
CA-15 (Sorry, bit of patriotism there!)
CA -4/11 (Oops, more of the same!)
Fisher P-75 Eagle
Bell Airacuda
P-59
Martin BTM Mauler
Martin Mariner
XP-67
A/W Albemarle
Vickers 4 engine bomber prototype – Can’t think of the name
Vultee Vengeance
Spiteful/Seafang

That’ll do – what do you reckon?

Regards

Wombat

I’ll start another thread in a week or so, but at Leg Ends, Robbo suggested a meet up at Newark, assuming we get some fine weather.
Seems to be quite a few following this thread so, anybody interested in the next month or two?

Mike, dunno about that Airfix one. They re-released the original-style bagged kit, and it looked the same then as it does now – unless I am, of course, mistaken?

FROG, on the other had, didn’t have proper wheel wells on their Spitfire Ia/Va – I’ve got one in the house.

1/48 Auster AOP9 and 1/144 SR Princess. The only reason I say 1/144 Princess is that I’d have to find the space for it. Some of the early Airfix kits also had moulded in pilots and the wheel wells nothing more than lines moulded in to the plastic. Their original Mk II Spit is just one example.

Hi Bart, the 1/32 lancaster and B17 have been done in vacform by I,D models. the kits are very basic and are designed to give the pro modeler and superdetailers the main parts to make their models from. they are very rare now but are sometimes seen on e-bay

I’m sure I remember seeing a large-scale model of Spirit of St Louis once, dunno if it was plastic, though.

Not large scale but the only one I can remember was the Frog one.
I’m sure at least one of the American manufacturers must have done one, too.

Goon news for F-4M fans… Revell just reissued Hasegawa’s FGR2. I got one, it is excellent, and will be done in overall blue ! 🙂

If only i could get a hand on an Xtracolor X030 can here… Someone wanna swap one with something else?

Well somebody’s got to say it….
Alexis, a 1/24th Spruce Goose would be over 13 foot wingspan!
