It’s on a Pole. Perhaps they got confused.

……not only that Northolt airfield, where this gate guardian is, is also the site of the Polish War Memorial (on the A40)to the Polish Sqs based there, so even more reason for the Polish flag to appear.

The Poles are always being forgotten, wheren’t the two Polish Squadrons omitted from the Kent BoB memorial when it was unveiled?

Hi Sadsack,
Yep,it’s a replica. This is Northolt’s gate guard “MH777”,painted to represent a Spit of 303sqn.They seem to have left out the red and white Polish marking on the cowling, which seems a bit of a shame when you consider the debt we owe the Poles.:(

RE: Which Spit is this?

The New owner wanted her repainted before she was shipped to America, so Dad painted her in the same 312 (Czech) Sqn scheme.

There are some great shots on that site. I’m glad I stumbled across it.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-11-02 AT 01:56 PM (GMT)]Here is a picture that John Dibbs took of AR614 before she was broken down, repainted and shipped to America

Other similar images can be found at www.hangout.flyer.co.uk/dux7.htm

It would of been nice to have AR614 and TE566 flying together before they both headed off to their new homes.

RE: Which Spit is this?

Definately AR614 when owned by Sir Tim Wallis. The pic was taken at Earls Colne when it was based there with Hawker Restorations
