Whitley Part (?)

Elliot – there is a question on another forum as to whether this is US part ( as it has LH)- or whether it is Whitley as it has SP part number.

The cast number is SP 2561 1LH

doesn’t look familiar and the number is not in the correct range. Colour looks US as well, so as Ian suggests most likely American

I’ve seen a very similar casting, in the same colour from the upper turret of a B17F. I think the frame formed a kind of V under the guns at the front. Could be ever so wrong though.
