Hi Dave
Yes, they are still there and well worth a visit! They were recovered for the RAF museum in the 1970s by the Kinloss Aviation Society.

Parts at Coventry museum ?
Elliott,
Many moons ago, i recall visiting the museum at Coventry and they had several large chunks of Whitley including fuselage sections.
Have they considered your needs or are they keeping it all for themselves ?
Perhaps its a similar situation to Elvingtons Halifax but the IWM keeping a firm hold on their nose section ?

Hi Ian
Thanks for the heads up on the whitley bits. Did you have an instructor by the name of Alistair Macfarlane by any chance? he went on some walks to Whitley wrecks in Yorkshire in the 70s and has some bits for me, but his email is now inactive.

Hi Dave
Yes, the CAD drawings will be very useful. The reason for the delay is that I am still waiting to get a quote for the copying of the repair manual, but it will come in time. I’ll definately be in touch then.
Speak soon

A very worthy and interesting effort.
I was an ATC cadet in 70 -73 and my squadron did some amatuer wreckology. I have a dim memory that some bits from a Whitley were found – a substantial piece of undercarriage strut, I think. The squadron was in Goole, Yorkshire.
I have to say this was all a long time ago and I may be totally wrong here. I don’t even know if this particular ATC squadron still exists
