Iv’e flown with a lot of Airlines from around the world, but i think you can’t go past Singapore Airlines for cabin service in both tourist and business class.
Anybody concur with me on this????

wys, unlike that other mob from Govan, as a club we’re open to all faiths, creeds, colours and sexual orientation.
So what if the club was originally started for Catholics, very few of the staff nowadays are.
Florida dude, I ain’t flown on UK charters before, but I have flown both United and US Air (as it was then, in ’97) on US coast to coast flights, and in both instances, there was a $5 charge for the headsets.

everyone’s entitled to their opinions, but I wouldn’t rate any airline that highly that makes you pay for the wherewithall for listening to the inflight movie, so that discounts teh American carriers…
Since when have US carriers charged for inflight movies????
Maybe your thinking of how the UK charters used to charge for the headphones and still collect them back at the end of the flight!
The only thing some of the american carriers charge is for alcholic beverages, which is a damm good idea as it will result in less airline mid-flight incidents caused by drunkeness.

No…next thing they won’t be serving bacon or ham either! 😉

El Al doesn’t serve pork, and I thought the food was atrocious. The seat pitch is ditto, and the crew are rude.

Starjet, you didn’t ask the El Al crew for a pork pie did you?
By: starjet - 17th July 2003 at 02:46
Cathay Pacific, JAL or Singapore Airlines. All were created equal.
As for worst: I never want to go on El Al again.

I have had some very good service on a number of trips but one in particular sticks in my mind. I wont say the airline as I would not want to get the stewardess in trouble (although it was many years ago – a hell of a long time actually) but it was at the time of strikes or go slows with UK ATC in the early eighties. We were diverted from Heathrow to Stansted (along with a lot of other flights) and parked on a hard standing for hours without being able to get off. The rear door was opened for fresh air and I was standing there well pissed having done a dry stretch in the middle east. I got chatting to this stewardess and got along very well with her considering the state I was in. Anyway the booze had run out (I was obviously not the only piss head on the flight)
and the thought of another few hours on the ground without a drop did not really appeal. I moaned to the stewardess I had been chatting to by the door about it and she disappeared up to the front of the aircraft (a 707) she came back with two bags full of booze and gave them to me and said “this should keep you going but take it to your seat”. I said I thought there was none left and she said there is’nt in economy this is what was left in first class. Being a bit guilty I said what about them to which she cheerfully replied “They will have to do without – won’t they”. God Bless her!!!

British Airways economy is generally quite good from my experience.

I would say Gulf Air as my misses is sat behind me. But the other week when I returned from Bahrain I was sat in the cheap seats and the crew couldnt be bothered. It was a night flight and as I was sat right at the back, all I could hear was there laughing. And there attitude wasnt any better, particulary from the Bahrainy male crew. The flight out there was excelent as my misses was the in-flight chef and I had her meal, all the drinks I could handle and a ‘taste of first class’, also I will mention the Capt was very friendly and I owe him a bear or two.
All the other times Ive flown with Gulf-Air, the crews and in-flight service in the cheap seats have been very good.
The worst inflight service was last year on MyTravel flying from Bristol to Tennerife

Best in flight service I’ve had is without a doubt BA Club World.

I think Swiss, SAS, BA, Lufthansa are pretty good, i agree the american ones arent great, but if i had to chose one it would probably be Delta
By: Florida Dude - 16th July 2003 at 17:56
I think the service provided by the U.S carriers is miles ahead of the british ones.
