Who shot the Red Baron?

Did anyone else see this program on CH5 tonight?
Impressive use of simulators and a high tec laser gun, but it didn’t really tell me anything I didn’t already know.
Plus there were the usual mistakes – ie they started going on about original WWI aircraft while they showed us film of an Albatros replica, a Stampe and Tiggy, plus when they were talking about the Red Baron’s funeral, instead of showing us the well known film of the original burial, they rolled of some film which I assume must of been his re-burial in Germany after the war.

I can now provide conclusive proof……

Snoopy vs The Red Baron
Achtung, jetz wir ssingen ssusammen die Geschichte over den schweinkopfigen Hund und dem lieben Red Baron …

After the turn of the century . . .
SNIP
Plus:
Some roaring of planes, machine-gun fire, Germans shouting “eins-zwei-drei-vier” etc.

Strangely enough, the song was banned in the U.S. and on BBC

BUT NOT BANNED WELL ENOUGH, I HEARD IT!

Should anyone require the song contact me via PM

AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

The really “Good” news is there were 2 sequels!

Ok, that’s it, pass me the cyanide pill . . . .

Strangely enough, the song was banned in the U.S. and on BBC – because of the word “bloody” which is considered undecent. So when you listened to a broadcast of it in the 60’s you would hear “… the -beep- Red Baron of Germany … “. In their second song on the Red Baron (see below) the singers knew better – the Baron is, of course, going to go “to hell” (another undecent word).

I didn’t know that, I only listened to Radio Caroline then.

Snoopy vs The Red Baron
Achtung, jetz wir ssingen ssusammen die Geschichte over den schweinkopfigen Hund und dem lieben Red Baron …

After the turn of the century
In the clear blue skies over Germany
Came a roar and a thunder man had never heard
Like the screaming sound of a big war bird
Up in the sky, a man in a plane
Baron von Richthofen was his name
Eighty men tried, and eighty men died
Now they’re buried together in the countryside

Chorus:
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more
The Bloody Red Baron was running up the score
Eighty men died trying to end that spree
Of the Bloody Red Baron of Germany

In the nick of time, a hero arose
A funny-looking dog with a big black nose
He flew into the sky to seek revenge
But the Baron shot him down; “Curses, foiled again!”

Chorus

Now Snoopy swore he’d get that man
So he asked the Great Pumpkin for a new battle plan
He challenged the German to a real dogfight
While the Baron was laughing, he got him in his sight

The Bloody Red Baron was in a fix
He tried everything but he’d run out of tricks
Snoopy fired once and he fired twice
And the Bloody Red Baron went spinning out of sight

Chorus
Chorus

Chorus

Plus:
Some roaring of planes, machine-gun fire, Germans shouting “eins-zwei-drei-vier” etc.

Strangely enough, the song was banned in the U.S. and on BBC – because of the word “bloody” which is considered undecent. The one that was a hit was by The Royal Guardsmen but I think there was another version as well.

I give up – I can’t stand this question being asked any more – I’m forced to confess it was me!

Apparently it was Kristen, the aforementioned sister-in-law. I think it was from a grassy knoll, the bullet coming from the side to the back, the side to the back etc. and was captured on camera at Roswell AFB, which meant she went into immediate hiding and was last seen working in a chip shop near Grimsby alongside a well-known “royal” rock and roll legend who apparently had not left the building after shooting down the Red Baron. Personally I think it was more likely to have been Woodstock the small yellow bird – he was always a better shot. 😉 :p 😀

Am I not taking this seriously enough?

Australian Rilfeman !!!!

There has been two documentaries here in the states ,one by the folks at PBS, WGBH-TV Boston and one by the Discovery Channel. Showing this computer simulation shoot down of the Red Baron. Looks like one well placed 303 round did the trick. From watching both programs , looks like Capt Roy Brown was not the one who hit him. The Discovery Channel documentary put forth some solid info, but its been a long time ago, they did find one of the Australian trooper still alive who witnessed the Barons death at the scene!
Snowy Evans got the nod….lucky shot!
