who will be the next James Bond

Well Ive heard that Pierce Broznan is ready to bail on the James Bond role due to creative differences with the producers. And who can blame him after all the un-Bond like humiliation he went through in Die Another Day. So who will be the next Bond?

Robbie Williams has been turned down twice already. He wants to be James Bond, but to be Bond you need to have style, class, good looks and slick hair – none of which Robbie has. Looser.

I think the current bouffant hair is weird enough to him to qualify. Gordon Brown as his henchman.

Blair’s already shown that he’s a crap actor.

He’d make a good baddie from his hideout in Sardinia.
“Now, look, Mr Bond, erm, I’d like to answer your threat in 3 parts and remind you that I have delivered on my 4-year evilness plan, in a way which my predecessor could not have dreamed of”.

How about Tony Blair?
Judging from some of the posts on this forum, a lot of Brits would like to see him in a new role. 🙂

Speaking of villains, is it a sign of age creeping up on you when you start wondering if you wouldn’t have more fun playing the villain in a Bond movie than playing 007 himself…

Steve Young as Bond with Steve Patterson as Felix Leiter, Ashley as ‘M’, Anna, and Mrs Andy in Beds as Bond girls, Flood as the evil villan, with Janie and Andrew-O as his sidekicks, and Robbo as ‘Q’.

In any case you forgot to mention that Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and Terence Cooper (who?) also played James Bond (or in Allens case it was Jimmy) in the lousy Casino Royale. And Bob Holness on the radio too.

Flood,
You forgot to mention Barry Nelson the chap who played “Bond” in a TV special of Casino Royale, in 1954 (I have not seen this film, but apparently he playe “Jimmy Bond”, a US version of 007. That was only a year after the first book came out mind you.

Ralph Fiennes would qualify under your criteria I suppose.
It was intersting that the producers went with Brosnan, because apart from his mass appeal, he was also spot on, especially in 1995 where he was closer in looks and style to the literary Bond than anyone else, Connery included, IMO.
That said all 5 main actors (not counting 1967 Casino Royale) brought a lot to the part.

And I am sure that his political stance would go down very well with the heads of the Secret Service and the CIA.

If nationality doesn’t matter, I think I should become James Bond

Apart from the arrogance, what are your credentials then?

Cough Cough Pierce Brosnan is from the Republic of Ireland which isn`t part of the UK so in fact the only person to have played Bond who`s head of state isn`t the Queen is Pierce Brosnan.

My actual point was more how many are British, not better known from their work in America. Lazenby (Australian) thus qualifies (he was doing adverts in London both before and after, IIRC), Sean Connery probably qualifies (he did bit parts in films and TV productions prior to Dr No, but he was not star material then), Roger Moore probably qualifies (he did Ivanhoe and The Saint for TV, but otherwise the same as Connery), but Niven (the quintessential Englishman in Hollywood), Dalton (Flash Gordon, and a whole heap of US mini series), and Brosnan (Remington Steele) were/are all household names for other things in America and therefore were a safe bet for a nation of film-goers who prefer their stars to be known to them. In any case you forgot to mention that Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and Terence Cooper (who?) also played James Bond (or in Allens case it was Jimmy) in the lousy Casino Royale. The next Bond will be a face that the American movie goer will know and recognise, he might well be British but he will have done a fair bit of work in America, and since the Bond francise is American this will be all fine and dandy for the accountants (American, of course!).

Bond’s half Scottish in theory anyway, in Fleming’s books.
