Who's the scrubbers at the back???

Well its me actually…. 😀

Anybody else noticed in the last couple of years now that most UK charters now charge extra for meals that those of us (me!!!) who refuse to pat £10 for a bit of plastic cheese or a quail size chicken breast are shoved at the back of the plane like naughty schoolchildren 😉

The cabin crew look at you as if “now you will pay extra next time and we will treat you nicely and you won’t get the smell of rear toilet disinfectant!”

I find it much cheaper for a family of 5 to take a couple of tubes of pringles in your hand luggage!!!!!

Not for much longer ha ha.

I don’t think that’s funny, especially when we have people on these very forums (Softlad) who will be feeling the effect of this in the form of redundancies.

Even on short domstic flights, Dan Air gave you complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits!

I’d have expected more on a three hour flight though

Your right ii isnt. Even some of the national carriers are cutting back service levels and I think thats a real shame.

Ever since I was a child I have loved the whole experience of flying. I find it annoying that airlines seem to no longer care about their passengers, particularly on short-haul routes where service levels keep getting trimmed back and back.

A year ago I flew BA domestic and got a quattro formaggio sandwich.

Unfortunately it only contained 3 types of cheese.

I counted!

But it was still tasty and beats the heck out of Flybe, who my next flight was with. This was more expensive and I didn’t even get a cuppa.

6 months ago, on another Flybe flight, my employer picked up the tab. The ticket was extortionate (over £300 IOM-JER) and I felt “honoured” to get a voucher for tea/coffee/pringles in return.

It isn’t just charter airlines.

Im not rich, unfortunately. However, I do object to airlines charging you for anything and everything. I remember charter flights back in the 80s when you got boiled seets on take off and landing, complimentary bucks fizz, hot meals on all departures and hot towel service. Now look at them they give you nothing and still the cramped seating, they have gone backwards.

That’s not how I recall it. I took a Dan-Air charter flight (MAN-LEI-MAN) in May 1986 and all we got was a biscuit and cup of coffee or tea. Cheapskates!

I would find it difficult to keep a smile on my face when having to deal with some of the SLF!

Danairboy you are obviously a fan of both Dan Air and Air Europe

And look what happened to both of them! Airlines MUST do everything possible to generate revenue.

As to the delivery of the cabin service, it all comes down to logistics – on a two hour flight to PMI, for example, the cabin crew do not have the time to go down the cabin asking who has ordered meals – pax having meals are grouped together in a pre-allocated seating plan.

I would say that ALL cabin crew do an amazing job, I would find it difficult to keep a smile on my face when having to deal with some of the SLF!

Good, best place for such tight arses. Airlines should provide a complimentary meal on flights above 2 hours as standard anyway. I feel strongly about this as you will no doubt gather from my other posts.

I often think charter airlines introduced the charges for food in order to create a two-tier service. It also makes the rather thick but pretty cabin staff feel superior being able to sneer at the cheapskates at the back!

In two other threads you have complained about paying for meals. I take it your always stuck up the back then, because after all your one of these ‘tight arses’.

I may sometimes cause offence but I do not suffer fools gladly. I have strong opinions and I express them. I liked the company ethos of both Dan Air and Air Europe they strived to offer good standards and low fares! They were always professional yet never ‘stuck up’ or afraid to laugh at themselves!

Sadly missed!

Ok, if they were such a good airline, where are they now (as matt states)?

Thats right, they’re dust. Failed to compete with the low cost carriers by not reducing their overheads (That would be the sweets and meals your so keen on) and improve efficiency.

Keep expressing those opinions like you do and you’ll be on an all expenses, first class one way ticket out the door.
