You could try the PFA West Midlands Strut fly-in at Hixon. Always used to be a good bay when it was at Tatenhill – 47 nm from Gamston. Several of us are planning to do the two but, reading between the lines, I think we may be better placed than you.:)

I’ll be there – it makes a change to have a fly-in north of the watford gap – especially seeing as the PFA mob have moved even further south this year.

I might even be tempted into taking one of those new fangled diesel Diamonds for a test hop if the price is right (“cost” is what they say in the magazine)

Anyone know what else’s happening on the day?

Not me – its the Wight Party – a big microlight rally on the Isle of Wight that weekend and I have an appointment in the bar 🙂 To those going to the TP fly in – have a good time!

Rumour has it that a few type clubs are tyring to organise get-togethers at this event – anyone got any news on this? Sounds like a good idea and if we knew in advance who was going it might help plan the weekend to know which types are going to be there on which days.
having recently seen a poster for the event I am definitely up for a trial ride in a Katana – nice looking beast!

Thanks EwenT, sounds intriguing – you’ve got me wondering now! So are you going to take it to Gamston?

EwenT,

That’s great news – didn’t realise she was ‘that’ close to flying. Also didn’t realise you were updating your lapsed PPL – Oh well, I guess you can’t let number one son have all of the fun!!

Do you think we might see a ‘debut’ at Gamston?

Segull, hello.

Both. I have just finished a restoration – don’t ask me what please – and want to turn an elapsed PPL into a tailwheel NPPL.

Steve.

If you read this, yes it is finished apart from moving it out to a suitable airfield and getting the wings on. Trouble is finding the least expensive field, I don’t know if the AA offer still stands after all this time.

EwenT,

What do you mean by ‘get my wings on’ – are you building (or rebuilding) an aeroplane, or do you mean ‘get your wings’ as in learn to fly?

My club’s organising a fly-out to the fly-in – hope it’s as good as the old combined TP/FlyPast fly-ins at ‘Weald.

I’ll be there. Having said that I will have to get my wings on or cadge a lift with someone.

Several people I’ve spoken with have showed interest. Hope the weather is OK.
