Why aircraft are picketed

What happens to aircraft in high winds, in this case a FAF Jag in the January gales:diablo:

I believe the photo depicts Jaguar A, serial A4, which is/was the gateguard at the CEV’s Toulouse-Blagnac enclave.

just wondering on closer inspection of the pic it appears as if it was tied to the lamppost and the nose was tethered as well to the ground? I wonder if this was a gate guard type of thing?

As the French retired their ac before the RAF and the mishap occured this year, I would think that it is a Gate Guard of some sort. At least you can’t blame the bent pitot probe on conscripts 😀

This picture makes me think of the end of “The Tale Of CockRobin” – a little dead bird on it’s back with legs pointing skywards.

….and I’m dying to know the significance of the piece of rope linking the rear end to the nearby (undamaged) lamppost :D:D.
