Why did the RAF-Museums painter close his eyes before…

….spraying the interior of an aircraft.

Hi all,

I recently bought the new modellers datafile on the Beaufighter. Among the many colour photo’s there are some of the RAF Museums example. What strikes me is that the interior has been liberally coated with interior green paint, and with coated I mean everything is coated with green paint such as knobs, switches etc. The interior of their Lancaster has had the same treatment, probably done since the early seventies.

Was this the thing to do in the sixties/seventies, or was their painter afraid of the dark and closed his eyes before he sprayed the inside? Seems like a bit of amateurism doing a thing like this.

Cheers

Freddy

I’m glad someone else has noticed this! The interior of Lancaster ‘Sugar’ has indeed been liberally sprayed with ‘Interior Green’ by an apparently blind man with a clogged nozzle!!!
