Why don't more aircraft use fly-by-light?

It seems pretty straight forward to change a system from fly-by-wire to light. You just swap wires for optic fiber, as you would do on many computer networks now. The advantages seem pretty overwhelming. Higher bandwidth, lower weight, eliminate fire hazard, resistance to EM attacks and hacking. Are there ruggedness issues I’m missing?
