Hi folks.
Many of you know I do not particularly favour Airbus aircraft. Although, today I don’t have too much of a probelm with then. Lets face it, If its going to take me where I want to go, I’ll board an airbus.
But, I still have my doubts. Not of the aircraft themselves, but of the powers that be in the french aviation offices.
It may be an older accident, but if officials were willing to cover up inadequacy then, theres nothing to say they still won’t, or perhaps do, today. I cite the tragic accident with the French concorde. French Officials, and I emphasise FRENCH, will tell you it was a piece of metal from a DC-10 that cause this problem. However, official outside the french Aviation administration will show you that the evidence doesn’t add up.
Fire was spotted coming from concorde before it suposedly ran over the strip of metal on the runway. Tire markes on the runway show the tires burst and concorde began to veer to the left before the location of the strip of metal.
And to top it off, a mechanic admitted that a crucial part of Concordes landing gear was left on a work bench in the hangar where the doomed aicraft had just been serviced. If this particular part of the landing gear wasn’t attached, the result would be an instability with the tires, causing them to wobble. At the speeds concorde reaches on take off, that wobble would easily cause the tired to explode.
So, that my fellow forum members is why I do not trust French Aviation officials, and I never will do.

To express my views on the situation.

I don’t know if French authorities are that much worse then any other country. I haven’t seen anything in this tread to come to a different conclusion. So why post this statement? I mean what is your aim with this post, to let us think the same about this or ……………?????

and especially those French Car builders…
You weren’t complaining about them when I gave you a lift back from the EDI meet in my 206. 😀 :p

Sandy, I have tremendous respect for you. I consider you one of the top 2 or 3 contributors to this forum. However, I have tremendous respect for Hand, as well, and I did think your initial thread title was quasi-French bashing. One thing I admire about this forum is the relative absense of nationality/ethnic bashing. I can’t say the same for the general discussion forum, that’s for sure. That being said, I can tolerate the occassional ‘bloody yankee’ bashing said with tongue in cheek just like the next guy. On the other hand, you have every right to be critical of French aviation officials, but not the French people, at large .
Thank you, may I just say… I have nothing what-so-ever against the french people at large. I do apologise if it sounded like I had.
I have many international friends, some of them being french. Infact, I work alongside a frenchman. He’s the funniest guy I’ve ever worked with and a real pleasure to be around.
Its just those frenchmen/women in suites that covered up all that sh!t I note above that I don’t trust.
By: Ren Frew - 3rd June 2004 at 00:10
It’s ok folks, Sandy is a true internationalist (except when it comes to Glasgow people) :p
I think what you’re complaining about Sandy as we’ve often figured, is the nationless, souless curse of the men in suits ?
It happens around the world in all fields of industry, commerce and politics. I agree with you that there is a sufficient aroma of rodents concerning the Airbus and Concorde disasters to warrant secondary and unbiased investigations. Where those might come from though is anyone’s guess ?

😉 there ya see. Its amazing how one word (or lack there of) can cause so much confusion and ultimately argument
By: Hand87_5 - 2nd June 2004 at 21:52
I do not know why the title is so, I had typed :
“Why I don’t trust the french Authorities”for some reason, “Authorities” didn;t get through… perhaps an inadvertent strike of the tab key, who knows.
I didn’t see the error in the title untill I had posted, by then it was too late.
If you intent to write :
Why I don’t trust the french Authorities
I can’t agree more ….. 😉

To correct you the leg room is nothing to do with Airbus or Boeing. The airlines choose what config the cabin is set out at.
I must concur here. The seating arrangments is absolutely nothing to do with the manufacturer.

I’d take caution here. It’s not that you can’t believe what you read, but this is hardly an official source, and it doesn’t take much to decifer that whoever wrote this account had an agenda. In addition if the thrust behind the post was
“I do not trust the Authorities in the French aviation business. Nothing more nothing less.”
then I question why you titled the thread’
“Why I don’t trust the french”
