Is there any particular reason that the Vulcan is going to Volkel?
I’m just curious to know if there was a sponsor for Volkel or if the Vulcan is earning a fee that couldn’t be earned at a UK venue, as I don’t think the Vulcan has any particular association with the Netherlands, or has there been particular public support from the Netherlands?
Or is this a demonstration flight to any potential sponsor who may want the Vulcan to attend other international events?

A bit more of a serious answer. Prior to the airshow the air force asked around at a few of Dutch aviation message boards for a achievable wish list (achievable meaning: no Japanese F-2s, Iranian F-14s etc). The Vulcan appeared very high on most lists. So I would assume it was booked by popular demand.
Is that also the reason that there were no WWII combat aircraft?

Excellent post. Just goes to show…..it can be done!
So how about some of this attitude from the RAF?

Good one. I’d love to see the Vulcan trying to fly that slowly.:eek:
Going past it might also cause problems with turbulence.

Well as promissed, here a Photographic report of XH-558 in Dutch Airspace… She behaved wonderfull and i would like to say thanks at the people (including all volunteers who helped there) for the wonderfull weekend me and my fellow airshow enthousiast had.. I will cross over for the beast again when RIAT is about to take off and i hope we will even have better weather then last weekend.
these ones are especially for Kev 35 and all the others that don’t complain about an aircraft not being at an airshow at a certain time!!!!

@ Kev 😡 :dev2: 😡 😀
Would love to see a flying UK “V” force formation, we have a number of “V” fighters so:
Vulcan
Vampires
Venoms
Sea Vixen
Alright, so the Vulcan is Avro, while all the others are De Havilland, but it would still be an intriguing and wonderful sight.
Can anyone think of any other UK “V” fighters or bombers, currently flying?

Yes I have. Was well worth the visit. Unfortunately a bit cloudy during Vulcan display. But what a sight, this mighty delta……
Will post a couple of pictures on the airshow photography forum tomorrow.

Unfortunately I had other commitments, shame really.
The Vulcan was my first experience of rapid start. Certainly makes you jump first time around.

Victor?
I’d rather spend my taxmoney on Victors.:diablo:

Cees,
Although the idea sounds tempting, I don’t think the Royal Netherlands Air Force would be interested in an aircraft that has an operational ceiling of 40 ft and a range of approx. half of the length of Bruntingthorpe’s runway :dev2::dev2:
Groeten terug…………

Robin Hood airport certainly has a long enough runway, unless it has been changed since I was there last (1973).
My first ever airshow – must have been in the early 60’s
always remember the multiple Vulcan scramble!

Yes, Rob,
They certainly learned that from the Halifax/Lancaster bombload debate

Well it can carry more bombs than a Vulcan.

Question, why is the Vulcan going to Volkel?
Answer, why not!
