.Why arenโt 2 seater WW1 replicas very popular? I would have thought that people who want to fly vintage machines would want to share the experience with others and that there would be a big market for 2 seat WW1 aircraft.
My long term ambition is to have a WW1 replica built for the 100th anniversary of the armistice in 2018 which I hope is a realistic goal, although the deciding factor would be finding enough interest in a project to spread the costs……
To that end, is anyone interested in sharing production costs on a limited run of individually produced aircraft? Have my eyes set on a Vickers Gunbus

Low and Slow- that appears to be the D.H 4M that was recontructed from a number of remains. Kermit Weeks has on quite close to completion at Fantasy of Flight and there are a couple more under rebuild to flight in the U.S.
I stand happily corrected! ๐ฎ

They were replicas for the film about Charles Kingsford Smith, representing his go at starting an airline. Where they’ve ended up I know not!
Fe2B from “A Thousand Skies” and the Trimotor from the movie “Smithy” are here…

The Trimotor is in storage.

What happened to Andrew Wood’s Sopwith Dove replica G-EAGA built by Skysport. I’m aware it had an accident in 2000 but hadn’t heard anything since.

About the same size I reckon.
You could start as soon as you’ve wrapped up the BE2C project…:);):)

A problem with a Brisfit for any private owner is that they are so socking big.
One of my pleasures of an evening is to arrive at the otherwise deserted airfield, haul the aeroplane out, swing the propeller and go for half an hours flying.
As you’ll see from the pic below. Even if you could afford the fuel, a starting a Brisfit is hardly a one-man operation! ๐

An airworthy ‘Harry Tate’ would mean a trip to NZ for me! Thanks for the link to the Memorial Flight Association Andy, been looking for it for a while but couldn’t remember the name

I’ve always found it strange that the Americans are so big on WWI aircraft and replicas, especially as it was a European air war.

The French are doing a Strutter.
Well technically at least it’s a restoration.
See the Memorial Flight Association website

Also, there was a replica Breguet XIV at La Ferte Alais this year buzzing around.
Lycoming powered, I think.
I’ll post a picture of two of it when I get five minutes.

The Vintage Aviator here in New Zealand intends to build at least one more RE.8. They’ve built a static for the Omaka AHC but the website says they plan to make one airworthy too.
