Why no Flypast Sponsorship for Sally B?

A simple question. Why has Flypast apparently withdrawn it`s sponsorship of Sally B?

David.

I did wonder about that as I wrote it but didn’t check.:o Thanks for the correction. Still think it would like nice in an RAF scheme.

Kev – it would be lovely except for the fact that she has never been a Basset or indeed served with the RAF. She was built as
a Beagle 206S and remains as such.

Perhaps flypast are spending the money on their own Bassett? Not exactly a warbird in the same class as Sally B but nice nonetheless. I would imagine that operating any aircraft isn’t going to come cheap. Would be nice to see it in a Transport Command scheme.

You had me worried there for a moment Alastair, but the thread seems to have swerved away from touchy areas.

if the sposorship was for a set period then fair enough, however the censorship of this forum is pathetic.

To be honest I hadn’t noticed that Flypast were no longer sponsoring Sally B, however I would imagine that there is a limit within the Key business, as with any other for Sponsorship / Advertising. You would imagine that a budget was set for this which has now been reached. Maybe it is now time to re invest back into the publications.
I appreciate that Sally B s a worthy cause, however sponsorship cannot last forever and I don’t feel that we have a ‘right’ to know where the money is going as this must be a commercial decission and not an emotional one.
We are after all only customers of Key (hopefully valued ones) and not shareholders.

If the flypast sponsorship of Sally B was for a finite period of two years then fair enough. I think now the question must be what is to be done with the money no longer allocated to Sally B? Although we as enthusiasts have no say in how Key use their money (although their advertising policy seriously encourages us to spend our money with them) their profits are made in part by the money we spend every month on their publications. As loyal readers and supporters of the magazine perhaps we could expect clarification from Key on what is happening re sponsorship of Sally B? Or any other project which is being considered for sponsorship in its stead?

Maybe the Flypast sponsorship money has been put to use for better things , such as private registration numbers so we can spot the Flypast corporate limo at airshows – making it easier for us minions to spot the Flypast management – anybody suggest a suitable registration number , and guess how long it takes for this thread to get unravelled

Good point Moggy. Best not to ask.

I think the main problem comes when you start to question which mag is inadequate.

So we won’t do that, will we !!

I think we are OK mentioning FlyPasts’s inadequate competitors.

Just don’t go down the road of speculating on what the money that was devoted to Sally B is now being used for methinks.

I thought I might get away with that one as I was being critical of ‘the other mag’ for not sponsoring Sally B!

That would be fine if Sally Bs money problems had gone away.
Somehow I doubt that they have!!

It would be fair, however, for another sponsor to step in.

How about AEROPLANE MONTHLY?

At Flying Legends 2001 the commentator announced that the sponsorship for ‘Sally B’ was for two seasons. This is season 3, I think ‘FlyPast’ have done their bit.

I also started a thread along these lines which has since vanished.

Is this a free world or not?

Apparently they ‘disappeared’ the logo after hearing that AEROPLANE MONTHLY had been uttered nearby.

They ‘disappeared my friend too you know. They gloated too:

“We’ve got your pal, buddy, we’ve got your pal”

Spookier and spookier!

Whilst Mr Webmaster will shortly be rushing here to give us chapter and verse on the Sally B issue he might also like to help me locate the thread ‘Spooky 2’

This was a recent thread dealing with mysterious disappearances of other threads.

Now it too has gone to the Great Bermuda Triangle of the FlyPast Forum.

Did you really think we wouldn’t notice?

:p

hmm yeah i would like to know this, It was a great idea that a Warbird mag was supporting Sally B, i would of liked flypast or even Aeroplane monthly to sponcer the NX611 “Just Jane” East Kirkby lanc to fly. imagine that 2 lancs at airshows!

what is Flypasts offical anouncement about this?
