I was thinking about this.
Most people i have read say that by the time Sentinel is due to retire (around 2015), the radar it carries will be less impressive (relatively) than it was when it was specified.
But I then thought to myself, is this because they are focusing on counter insurgency ops, where the latest thinking at Raytheon is you need to designate tiny little men running from building to building rather than columns of armour etc.
Sentinel is obviously proving its worth in the latter regard in Libya, and does this illustrate that the world is not all about counter insurgency as the Army would have us think…?
In Short is Sentinel more useful than some on both sides of the Atlantic may think and will this see it survive after 2015?
