just added 256 mb RAM to the 256 I already have, however windows isnt recognising it in system properties..
I was given a link to what I remember being a vcache issue when adding more memory and the vid card screwed up….

any help very gratefully received!
Cant find it in the windows troubleshooting site now!

not so fast….
having more than 256mb of ram for PII CPUs won’t help much because the Level2 cache to ram ratio for such processor (or earlier) doesn’t allow improvements….i assume your computer is a PII.

hi arthur thanx for reply, problem now fixed….
if it wasnt soo expensive I probably would, but at least I know that everything I want to use works on win98se…including games.

Perhaps a bit stupid, but i’d suggest moving to XP. Even with a pile-more-junk-on-that-HDD-and-desktop-and-now-start-a-multitasking-rave useage like mine, it hasn’t given me any problems. This including hardware modifications.
As of yet.
Fingers crossed.
I’m waiting for that blue screen of death now.
I’m sure a few red lights start flickering and a few buzzers start beeping in Seattle now.
Nothing?
Ah well, i guess it still works. I guess Bill Gates being the richest man in the world has made him a bit more friendly with his products. The Wrath of Bill hasn’t struck me anymore after XP.
