Wine.

I would like to recommend the `Marzemino 2013` at £5 a bottle in the Sainsburys Taste the Difference range (reduced from £8).
A red wine of Italy from the Veneto region by Gianni Conti.
A very smooth and fruity wine with very little acidity.

We should build a list of good, reasonably priced wines. That’s wines less than £10.

Deci Red, sold from behind the German bar in Decimmannu Sardina and decanted from a “petrol pump” into 5 gallon plastic containers, so fresh you could taste the toenails in it….. Not recommended unless you were drunk…. Very very drunk.

Here you go bob

A nice French red – “Bergerac” – a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bergerac region. Friends who visit France on a regular basis bring us a case or two back. It costs just over 1€ a bottle where they buy it and for that price it cannot be faulted!
Some of the bottles have a small “specially selected for Lidl” on the rear label!!!
I have quaffed some expensive red wines and this is just as good IMO…
Scale on bottle shows it as a 1 (dry)…

I had a 1995 Ontañón Reserva Rioja at a top eatery in Vegas in January – very smooth and pretty pricey (after markup!) – Tempranillo grape.

I tracked down a 2004 vintage here in UK and have had one bottle and stuck one away until it is of an equivalent age!!! Hopefully the wait will be worth it!

Great idea, I’d love to help, but being we are just two and a half hours from Dover it is very unusual for us to buy wine in the UK.

It might be a good idea to note the grape variety as it gives a good idea of the likely taste envelope.
