When we got to the Hanger café at Fairoaks, I was mIstakenly told that Polly had been and then left…Oh no, I thought, I asked the Instructor to phone the tower and double check If they had landed Polly’s PA28- Dakota. To my relief at that same time, she had just touched down and was taxiing to the apron. They relayed to her that I could be found at the clubhouse. ?I met Chris who had flown with her from Lasham. After Polly finished her admIn we said our farewell to Chris and his friends we walked towards her Dakota In the last of the falling rain.
I was partIcularly Interested and focused on lIstenIng to the radIo and watchIng how Polly NavIgated. Once radIo check and taxI clearance was gIven we taxIed along B1 to Runway 24. On route to RedhIll, we had to stay away from Heathrow TMA and GatwIck AIrspace. Take off was brIllIant and very smooth, at about 300 ft It was wIndy and I lIke bumpy rIdes. We turned left and headed towards RedhIll vIa VRP..post departure Polly made her radIo call to let RedhIll know that we were Inbound and to check joInIng InstructIons to land.
Words faIl me when I try to descrIbe how much I love avIatIon and why. I am becomIng a passIonate obsessIve. Dependent on crutches as a result of my childhood battle with Polio and displaying the achievements possible in the face of adversity I believe my calling in aviation will be the most fulfilling yet. To take part In WIngs Around BrItaIn was terrIfIc. ThIs has been very InterestIng, thank you Polly for gIvIng me the opportunity
