cold, grotty n grey was the day but i had a grand time at this friendly little airfield watching the comings n goings of various light stuff. inbetween the showers the large models managed to fling themselves around the sky. the Robinson helicopter was giving trial hovering tests to novice wannabe`s. it was quite interesting watching at times

In view of today’s weather forecast we will be open at the Green, but there will be free entry, with much reduced attractions, and I guess not much flying. Hooligan’s Leonides was a fine example of the instant conversion of money into noise. We would like to thank UK Gliderborne for putting on several battles even though the ‘Germans’ never turned up (You can never trust those Germans) I hope the Red Berets’ march on Wombourne was successful last night and they found their objective, a chip shop open on Easter Sunday !

Classic Flight’s Rapide ‘GTM took off from Coventry for Halfpenny Green at 10am but low cloud about half way meant a turn around and return to base.
Maybe tomorrow???
Did John Hoole run his Leonides?

…the corsair looked good, whatever engine is in coud be heard which added to the affect…
A CompARF kit with, no doubt, one of the big Moki radial powerplants. Probably a Moki 250 as seen below.

in the 3rd photo you can see the Robinson sat on a brown dead looking patch of grass. this was about the length of a cricket pitching lane and not much wider than the rotor width. this is what they were meant to hover within. you could tell quite quickly when the pilot had handed over control lol

That tail rotor must be close to the ground on the heli, even more so depending on direction of travel. First n last flight!

Was not the bset of weather but as said below the corsair looked good, whatever engine is in coud be heard which added to the affect and as for the Robinson it did make you do a double take.
Thank you to those that have put the effort in to organise the event especially against the miserable weather today and that forecast tomorrow

the detail in and on the Corsair was quite accurate but not overdone, even the type of the wheels looked good. the size of the thing helped with getting some half decent shots.
a good day though and many thanks to all at Halfpenny for putting on a good show

That Corsair flew like the real thing and even sounded like the real thing!
Very impressed with that model, in fact all the models were really good, the heli hover challenge was something a bit different.
Cheers
Tim
