Hi All,
mantog,
Like trumper said nothing to apologise for, I just thought I would look on their web site and check to see if Leamington Spa has a works store which is does, but also just out of interest in case Leamington never had a store. So next thing is to threaten the wife into getting us one when in town if available, so many thanks for your original post matey…..:eagerness:

Just a shame as Rosevidney1 pointed out already that Mr Brown has now passed on may he RIP…..:(

His other book Wings of the Luftwaffe is also a very good read.

And now we sadly learn that the great man has passed away.

It just shows how something as innocuous as fall can have major repercussions for someone of that age – my own father-in-law (93) has just moved out of hospital following a long stay after what was initially a small fall at home.

Enquired yesterday as to the availability in Washington Tyne & Wear.

It is not in every store, in our area they have it in Gateshead and North Shields

Read it many years ago and recommend it to all

Sad that it coincides with his loss

Oh that’s strange, I’d assumed that as they are a chain it would be same price in every store and online! I saw it at the £3 price in the Merrion Centre, Leeds. Apologies if I’ve sent people in a wild goose chase.m

You have nothing to apologise for ,you posted a factual finding. It is up to people to go out and do the research as well.Hopefully many people have bought and enjoyed this book and it is a cracker.

Hi All,
What’s the deal with the works then is this a local discount or nation wide ? I just went on to their web page and this is what you get :- http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/general/wings-on-my-sleeve—the-worlds-greatest-test-pilot-tells-his-story/9780753822098
Then add on their delivery (Prices below) if you do not have a local store. It seems like nobody has told the online site about this discount and considering the apparent RRP (although you can get a 10% discount with your 1st order) a bit confusing really…..

Our delivery charges are:
•FREE Standard Delivery on orders over £20
(Please note an order will not qualify for free delivery if a promotion code reduces the order total below £20)
•FREE Click & Collect to selected stores
•Standard Delivery – £2.99 (delivered in 3-5 working days)
•Click & Collect – FREE (delivered in 3-5 working days)
•Next Day Delivery – £6.99 (orders placed before 3pm)

Geoff.

Thank you for the head’s up- hope my branch has some!

I have two copies in ‘as new’ condition. If you have trouble getting a copy, PM an address and I’ll send one. If you feel like sending the Bomber Command Memorial fund a cheque for three or four quid that would be nice but not a condition.

I was with him in the hosp yesterday, he is tough fella but he’s had a bit of a rough time the past week and needs a bit of rest to get his strength back. He’s been well looked after, the staff realise they have a national treasure there, esp as he’s the cover star of this months Surrey Downs magazine!

Actually just went on the museum facebook page and it seems Eric had a fall at home and took a few knocks to the face that require him to spend some time in hospital, but it says he is in good spirits

Get well soon Eric.

‘I thought he had to pull out of the Shoreham talk? ‘

I just saw the details on the Shoreham Museum website and am not aware he has had to pull out. Could well be the case though

Buy the book, then get yourself down to Shoreham Museum and ask him to sign it for you on 27 March
