G’ day all formite’s 😀
WING’S OVER FRANCE by Lieutenant Colonel Harold E. Hartney U.S. Air Service. pub 1940, 1971, 1974 SBN 561 00207 X
Yep I’m still kickin, and blooody fighting it all the way, No Retreat NO Surrender:dev2: This MS Cr@p even after 16 year’s of it, has not got a hope up against my Cornish Pirate and Kraut Gene’s, No part of one’s body and mind will give in LOL:D
Well I am reading Wing’s Over Frog land again for the 50th time or so(I got it for me 14th birthday), and I would like to know who was the training Fella that they mention, who spun the Short or Long Horn’s many time’s over on purpose and survived.
The nob yelled at him when down, What the Hell are you trying to do KILL YOURSELF YOU SILLY TW@T.
When asked just how he did it, after so many sudent’s and instructor’s died spinning in, he said ” put the stick in to neutral, and prayed to the god’s “
Then everyone knew how to get out of spinning!!
Who was that Man ???
Thank’s if ya’s can help 😉
(pssst watchout 😮 Stormy may invade pommie land in about 2 year’s IF still well enough, Be Afraid……….be very afraid…….:D

Phil,
For what it was worth, the first man to get out of a spin was, IIRC, called Parkes, possibly Wilfred Parkes, and was flying the Avro G (this is based on a Putnam in my school library 25 years ago, so may not be strictly accurate!).
Dunno if that gives you anything to go on?

G’ day Mate!
How’s it going RP mate 😀
thank for the welcome back 😉 , I probaly already know the answer
But brain don’t spit it back up on order now 😮
I’ll dig in my huge fire risk bedroom wood pile 😀 , and have a sqizzy for a few day’s, probably lose me bed again and be back on the couch!!
IT HAPPEN’S !!!!
Last I hit the net, Hartney just called him mister very average student pilot!
He was out on the field, instructor nob Lieut D. M Wynne next to him, and they were watching a aircraft spinning in, amused sort in a strange way, like here’s another silly tw@t dead, better here then.
when mr dull pulled out of it:eek: , then went up again and did another spin in, then up again to do it over and over left and right.
landed a said after being abused stupid like only dull pom officer’s can still do :p
” Put my controls in neutral, trusted in the lord and slowly pulled out of it “
Thereafter almost solved less spinning in problem’s.
still a lot of death’s but from accident’s and all cause’s
poor buggger’s did not have much chance flying in motorised boxkite’s!!
And like Hartney ” here’s a bit
On Dec 13th after 4 hour’s and 10 minute’s solo, I earned my Royal Aero Club Licence(he tell’s ya his number some where too), and finally, got my Federation Aeronautique Internationale licence..
graduated from long horn’s to short, then did another 4 hour’d duel in a F.E. 2B with the 160 horse’s Beardmore donk. another 8 solo and was off to war!
Said the only fight he ever had with fellow young flyer’s was with a pilot by the name of………Lieut Albert Ball…………ring any bell’s huh:rolleyes:
Were best mate’s then had a huge row over which was better, the American Indian Motorcycle or the British Trumpy’s, but became firm(Brylcream Boy’s:eek: :p ) mate’s again later.
I gotta crash again, fatigue’s aright b itchy problem as alway’s!!
Oooooo Rooooo
