Sad to report that at Saturday’s “Wings Over Oklahoma” Airhsow a Yak-52 piloted by Rodger Modglin crashed. There are a couple of pictures and a video clip on the web (on news sites) and I’m not going to attempt any Interpretation of the evidence as I wasn’t there. He was making an inverted pass when the aircraft lost power and/or lift and hit the ground still inverted – there was a fire. The emergency services were there in seconds and got him out of the wreckage (he was airlifted to a hospital in Tulsa) but he died on Sunday. According to the news sites he leaves two sons and two granddaughters.
RIP Rodger Modglin.

I used to fly Yak 52
I now fly a PA22
It always crosses your mind as you apprioach the aircraft that this might be where you end your days.
It never occurs to you that it might actually happen in a car.
RIP Mr Modglin
