Wings Over Waves Felixstowe 4th August Sunday – Air Display 100th Anniversary

Just a reminder. There will be displays and stalls to mark the 100th Anniversary of Seaplanes and Felixstowe tomorrow. Plane Sailing’s Beautiful Catalina will be displaying as well as Spitfire, Sea King , Pitts etc. Along the sea front!

I will be displaying items about my Grandfather, his U Boat sinking, as well as cockpit parts from Catalina Flying Boat G-BLSC (and other seaplane stuff). I will also have a limited number of copies of my Grandfathers memoirs (Catalina over Arctic Oceans John French OBE DFC AFC AE, edited by moi).

It would be great to see anyone.

Lovely day – packed seafront, friendly and fun. Was nice to chat to Martin and Beermat. Lovely display by the Cat. Richard Grace was in one of the TRG Pitts, coming back later and giving a wonderful display in the Spit.

The Auster & Birddog were lovely too – well presented.

Had lots of interest in my display which was nice.

Hi Martin, come and say hi! The stalls will be on the Promenade between the Spa Pavillion and the Town Hall. The display will be along the sea line as it were!

Would be fantastic to see the Catalina alighting the water, but I doubt it. When was the last time she floated on UK waters I wonder?Martin

I’ll be there. I hadn’t stumbled across your thread I would have never known! Look forward to it & looks to be a fine day. Would be fantastic to see the Catalina alighting the water, but I doubt it. When was the last time she floated on UK waters I wonder?

Martin
