Councils certainly know how to waste money even if it is donations, for 2 million quid they could have the real macoy flying around not a not a mascot that looks as if its been taken off a car from the 40’s.

Nice as it may be but i think the Sb6 would look much better:D

It does look nice and shiny, hope its not going to be a target for Gull poo.
A Mk1 would be nice.

You will never please all the people all the time – just hope there are enough who like it enough to agree that it is a fitting tribute to an iconic aircraft. Personally I do like it, but this thread will probably run to several pages of debate…….;)

I seem to recall my original thinking on this was: “Meh.”

It’s a bit unimaginative in my opinion, regardless of whether or not it was one of the original contenders. You could build a similar memorial with a GRP replica and some imagination/enthusiasm, and it would look the same – only smaller.

Well…I hadn’t read the comments, Shirley, (sorry…I mean Baz) but having done so I realise the point behind Ian’s original posting and comment.

Hmmmm.

Something seems a bit smelly here. But I still like the design, personally, whatever the shenanigans behind it all.

Judging by the comments, people feel a bit tricked with the result.

Personally, think it looks nice.

My only obeservation is that it seems to be a Mk IX or some such similar variant.

It really ought to be a Mk 1, surely???

Trafalgar? My best friend – Pat Hancock – lived & died just down the road – Waterlooville.

He would have loved it!! Third from left.
