Wishful thinking

Shall we start a collection of the rumours that just aren’t true, but keep on popping-up time and again through sheer “If I repeat it often enough it may come true”?

Within the last day we’ve had

“I’m told NX611 got its wheels off the runway”

“After (Insert the bl**dy Vulcan’s serial here) has flown will they get (Some other Vulcan) into the air?”

We must be due for a “Three Lancasters were covered in preservative at the end of the war by my dad who then wrapped them in bubble wrap and cling-film, encased them in lead boxes filled with an inert gas and buried them in an air conditioned and structurally reinforced quarry”

Any more offers?

Moggy in cynic mode since Reims was binned 😡

One Icelandic story!

There is supposed to be an almost intact Ju-88 D-5 laying in one of the lakes in the highlands. It only has a few bullet holes in the fuel tanks according to the story.

As the story goes in was here on a recce flight in 1942 and got into the hands of P39’s which holed the fuel tanks. As it did not have fuel to reach the base in Norway the crew landed it on a frozen lake and made it’s way to Germany via U-boat. When the ice melted in the summer, it is supposed to have sunken to the bottom.

Anyone interested in plane hunting in the Icelandic Highlands?????

A semi derelict but basicly complete German WW2 machine survives in Holland. Has been there since 1945. Owner don’t give anybody permission to view and won’t sell. His children however know the value and want to sell. So, it will emerge in due time as the owner is allready well in his 80ties. BW Roger

Not so much a rumour, but a bit of wild speculation……

Was the Colt flying over Southwold/Walberswick on Saturday none other than Moggy??? I suppose I should have reached for the bogroll to lay out a recognition signal.

Rob

Not me, I was firmly grounded that weekend. But it could well have been the aircraft 🙂

Ahem

One of Atlantique’s Dakotas is at Shawbury, helping out with the Horsa glider project.

Which will fly.

Of course 😉

Snotty, now we know you are being silly, everyone knows the only gun position on a Horsa glider was a ventral dustbin turret into which the gunner was inserted head first.

How’s this for a malicious rumour. The lottery heritage fund will have a change of heart and give a grant to the Vulcan to the sky fund on the codition that it carries a bomb bay load on its first post restoration flight which is to be dropped from 20000ft over the Houses of Parliament,Tony Blair

SCOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As some of you know, I manage a photolab. I was just on the machine doing some wedding photos, when I recognised…..

JANIE!!!!!

She must have been on honeymoon on the Sunday. Apparently, her Hubby is a big old bruiser of a B17. Hmmm. Sally is not a blokes name to my knowledge…so in who’s company is Janie spending those tender moments now?

Chinese Whispers. Excellent. Who wants to play? If we PM each other in turn, it would be interesting to see what the original message gets turned into 🙂

Peter…the thing with rumours is, if a rumour is passed on to someone else as being a rumour then this is fine…the problem is when someone passes a rumour on as “fact”. For example, if I said “there is a rumour that so and so has acquired such and such an aircraft”, you can bet anything you like, there will be at least one person who then posts somewhere else/tells someone that “so and so HAS acquired such an aircraft”…then the tale told to the next person becomes “so and so has acquired TWO of these aircraft”…like Chinese whispers…am I making sense here? 🙂

Well I heard that there are loads of aircraft under the ice somewhere? They may even get a p38 out and return it to flying condition!!!…..sounds fantastic….but if that’s true, and you all know it is, who’s to say what’s out there.

Dezz 🙂
