Mr.Bee professes to find football fascinating, despite my telling him that it’s only ten blokes kicking a ball in one direction whilst ten blokes try to kick it the other way,and how interesting can that be ?
Anyway, seeing this news item about a woman referee prompts me to ask,is this a good thing,or should football still be an all-male affair ? And yes, I do know that women play football just as well,I’m talking about high-profile men’s football games.
Anyone got an opinion on this ?

Strewth.. and they play that in just a pair of knickers? Makes the guys look like a bunch of woosies with all their padding and posing.
There are some fit and good looking girls in that clip… and not a Polish rivetter from the Gdansk shipyard in sight. 😀

Mods.
I’m sure I posted to this thread on the 10th Feb. I’m sure it wasn’t offensive.
So where be it?
You certainly did.
It certainly was.
It’s gone.
Oh…… and Item 3 of the Code of Conduct remains in force, to the best of my knowledge.
Have a splendid day.

Indeed it shouldn’t matter if the ref’s a male or female, the respect should be there. Something the overpaid spoilt brats of the Premiership seem not to be able to grasp…
Totally agree.

I totally feel that it should not matter whether the referee of any sport is male or female, What should matter is that they are fully competent to carry out the job and are totally unbiased.
As long as anyone wanting to be a referee is trained to the same standards and all referees are offered the same opportunities then this is a great idea.
I do wonder if players and fans would act differently to a woman referee,All the same its not like referees get an easy time anyway, So anybody who goes for the job will be more than aware of that.
The one thing I would say is that for any such a move to mean anything it would need several women referees to come into the game very early on, So it does not become a token gesture and just undermine the whole idea.

Well i do follow football, and on occasion referee at U12 level at my sons footie games. I personally wonder if women refs would receive even less respect than the male refs do today. Its a tough job at any level, and sometimes leaves you feeling rather low, alone and personally abused. And because of that i would question whether the female of the sexes MAY find that just too much to take.
I’ve yet to see a ref break down in floods of tears, although i’m sure some may have come close without owning up to it. But a female ref..?.. hmm.
By the way Mrs Bee, its eleven players kicking the ball in either direction, including the goalies, and not ten. 😉

If they’ve got nice knees, yes! But seriously although I can’t speak for footie because my interest in it is at your level, not Mr Bee’s. I admit to being irrationally biased in favour of male referees – no idea why. I don’t really like female sports presenters – something about trying to come over sporty and a bit butch, perhaps….dreadful admission to make but there we are.:o

I’m not really that interested in football.
In fact I’m not at all interested in football.
But I’d happily referee an All-Babes Mud Wrestling Competition if it was offered 😀
