Women – what the hell makes them tick?

Serious question, this. What the hell goes on in womens minds?

Reason I ask is because the ‘delightful’ Catherine became my ex this afternoon. Accompanied by all the cliche’s:
“It’s not you, it’s me…”
“You’re too nice…”
“I’m not ready for a relationship yet…”

Yet she instigated it all, and now when she’s found someone who won’t shaft her over, she backs away. What the hell goes through their minds???

Meanwhile, I’m back to flying with an empty right hand seat… 🙁

Truth be told we (men) generally need them more than they need us. They can pick and choose and make the rules. Good, innit. – Nermal

Erm. Got mixed feelings about all this this morning. I sent the original post last night when I was, erm, rather fed up and well on the way to being rather pi$$ed up too. So perhaps baring my soul like this wasn’t such a good idea. Oops. Sorry.

But thanks very much to all of you who have offered words of support and encouragement, either on here or via PM’s. Thanks, I really do appreciate it. I’m a bit too hungover to take it all in at the moment, and besides, I have to go to work. Joy of joys, final day before starting the new role, and I’m hungover. Sheesh…

But hey, it can only get better from here though eh?

Oh and snapper, if you can get yourself over to Cambridge I’d be delighted to fly you mate.

I was absolutely devestated when my ex (fiancee) and I broke up. It was the lowest I ever got. Now, I have a wife who is way better, a daughter who is fantastic, and another little one on the way. I am content. They say every cloud has a silver lining – maybe, maybe not – but don’t wonder what you did wrong because either you did nothing wrong or its not something to change anyway.

I lift my pint arm to you old boy.

What makes women tick?

Buggered if I know mate.

I’m on my third marriage with another two live-ins scattered amongst them, so I don’t really feel qualified to comment.

I don’t know why several of the previous ones went so wrong, I don’t know why the current Mrs Moggy and I have lasted so long and show not the slightest sign that we won’t last a lot longer.

So? Just keep trying. She’s out there.

Originally by addwebber,
My father, not really one for father/son chats gave me these 2 bits of advice when i asked him about relationships.
1) Doesn’t matter how you look at it they are all wired up wrong.

I spent 30 years of my working life dealing with complicated wiring diagrams, this is one I have never been able to fathom !

2) Put a women in a room with 50 nice men and 1 tw@t and she will always pick him.

Spooky…..mine said almost exactly the same thing to me !
He was right on both counts.

Steve- If you dont mind me playing the devils advocate, can I ask the simple question: are you too nice? Let me give you an example of what I mean by explaining what happened with my girlfriend recently. She came to town and we went out for the night to a dance club and had a good time. I paid for the evening and for her hotel. When we were going back to the hotel: a) There was no makeout session b) She complained that we couldnt do anything more because “I didnt bring any money”. OK, “a” didnt bother me because Im 39 and Im not dying for it, but “b” is unacceptable because I know where she is going with that, she thinks she is going to play me for one of those guys who has to lavish money on her to get on her “good side”. I sent her an email (she lives with her family, I dont like calling) after she left saying the relationship is over because I felt like the line “you didnt bring enough money” is something bordering on prostitution. She actually took that email well, even though it was offensive to her. And she even sent me an email afterwards trying to work it out, but I sent a firm reply that Im not backing down on my position that she was wrong in this situation. So what Im getting at is that you have to know what you want in a relationship. She has showed herself as someone who doesnt value you. Dont stay friends with her, be strong enough to say that you dont like her attitude for you and find someone who does treat you right. You wouldnt tolerate being treated like some feable guy character by male friends you know. There is no reason you should by a woman.

You feel like you have just finished climbing the moutain, only to get kicked all the way to the bottom via the most painful route, yes?
I cannot advise in this area, but I will pass on to you what someone told me: don’t push her away, stay friends if you can, talk occasionally, don’t be bitter or twisted, but find someone else and prove that she did you a favour.
You won’t feel like doing that immediately, maybe not for a long while, but one day she might realise that it was her mistake – not yours.

In the meantime care to listen to some tear-jerking blues?

I feel sorry for you Steve. I lived a couple of those experiences and sometimes it hurts.
Well there is always a next one and good friends to pay you a pint of beer when everything goes wrong.

Hold on mate.

Sorry to hear that Steve. It always appears to me that women have this idealistic view of a gangster with morals in there minds as the ideal partner. They don’t exist. Hence most of the girls I know drift from relationship to relationship. I blame TV. If I had a pound for everytime I’ve had the ” I think you’re great but you’re just to nice ” line I think I would have my own Chipmunk or classic jet by know. I’ve got a date tommorow night but at the back of mind I’m thinking were’s this gunna go. The worse you treat girls the more they seem to like you. I’ve been out with a few who I’ve only really wanted for one night, so you’re nasty to them hoping they will go away, the problem is the nastier you are to them the more they want you – it just doesn’t make sense. We could start a list of all the other annoying habbits like when you ask them if they want something they say no and then steal yours 😡 but best not.

I wish you all the best.
