Wondrous Winglets

So, what does everyone think? They are fairly ‘sprouting up’ these days, being fitted to four carriers and no doubt more to follow. I do like them, but they are huge! No doubt they will be common place soon….

Would I be banned if I made a very bad joke about the special olympics? :diablo:

Probably not, but you would be off-topic.

I always though the B767 looked ugly.

I always though the B767 looked ugly. Now with these oversized surfboards glued to their wingtips they look ugly and ridiculous at the same time!

I hate to say it but they’re not there to look good! They’re there to save money and let’s face it, in the current climate that can’t be a bad thing.

Personally though, I like ’em. 😀

I didn’t realise First Choice/Thomson were getting them fitted to the 757s, it did baffle me one went over the other day, I guess there 76s will be getting them in due Course.

I think one or two of the FCA/TOM 757s got them fitting during there winter lease in canada!

The are popping up every were. Today at MAN I saw a First choice and Jet2 757 with them on. I think they look nice, I don’t think that the extended wing tips on the 777-300ER’s look half as nice.

It’s remarkable how much a wingletted 763 looks like an A330 now…

They are nice and they are giving some of the older aircraft a longer life which is great. However, from a photography perspective I would prefer to photograph the types before their upgrades (and then after too) to give them the more classical look and a reminder of the era they came from.
