Wings & Things had 5 Harvards in formation last year. Phil Shaw led it with Maurice Etcheto on the left wing, Maurice Hammond on the right, Rob Davies in the box position and Chris Bellhouse just a little further behind. Chris normally flys a solo too while the others fly by in various formations.

I agree that the the tribute to Martin Sargeant a few years ago was very moving. The missing man formation brought a tear to the eye.

Did you see the Harvard Formation team’s tribute to Martin Sargeant at Woodchurch a few years back, one of the most moving scenes I have ever experienced.

God Bless you Martin.

I thought Phil led it last year.

The ‘New’ Harvard formation team of 2004 comprises Rob Davies, Maurice Hammond, Chris Bellhouse and a guest, normally Phil Shaw although last year it was Maurice Etcheto…

Sounds like a superb airshow and I really wish them the best of luck.

I have to be at OW that weekend which is a shame.

Anyone going?

Yak 11 Fan, I just know you’ll be there, what about you Janie?

I’m totally gutted that this clashes with Oshkosh.

They’ll possibly have around 15 Mustangs at Oshkosh (they’ve had 25 before now) and another 12,000 (twelve thousand) aircraft to drool over. And seven days of it plus one day beforehand for everything to fly in.

Woodchurch, last year, was superb. I’m going to have a word with organisers of AirVenture at Oshkosh and see if they can move the dates next year! 🙂

Planejunky, there always seems to be people camping at Headcorn, might be worth a try, some of Woodchurch’s display Aircraft might even be operating from there. If not, all I can think of is some sites on the coast, New romney, Dymchurch etc.

Good Luck

Time to find the “AA” book and see what’s down there, it maybe just as easy (and cheaper) to drive there and back, but camping’s always a bit of a laugh if anyone else is up for it! 😀

Not sure that there are any members of the original team or aircraft involved in the Harvard Formation Team this year, hence why I commented that it was different from the original.

Hi Yak 11 Fan,

The Harvard Formation Team is in fact an evolved version of the original. At previous Woodchurch shows some of the original members, ie Martin Sargeant, Anthony Hutton & Gary Numan have flown as part of the team.

Rather like the Red Arrows really…………….. 😉

Harvard Formation Team (nice to see it back)

Not to be confused with the Harvard Formation Team of old.

Maybe I will see you there then Ewan. Just watch out for a marshaller with no idea what he is doing, that will be me, asuming I ever find the place that is.

Its the event of the year for me, I havn’t missed one yet! I used to live down that ‘neck of the woods’ & moved away nine years ago. In those days I used to fly-in long distance from Lydd! Ah, nostalga aint what it used to be…..

If you’ve never been to Woodchurch, do it this year, you will not be dissapointed.
