Just got back from Woodchurch wings.
It was fun.
Saw several people and Janie. She had left Druiscilla at home. With the matches.
Nice, friendly display and apart from idiots in flexwings making me go around twice. One did a one mile final (really!) and the other slowed right down on finals with no reason. He had 800 yards!
Apart from that it was brilliant.
see you all at Oxford tomorrow.

Sorry, great pic, couldn’t resist.
Sadly, I have to mention Melv’s undercarriage troubles were a feature of this evening’s conversation encompassing historic aviation developments between Setter’s and I. Guess you’ve ‘arrived’ Melv. 😀

A superb show as usual.
Pete Kynsey in the Corsair may just squeak display of the day, superb display making full use of the power and the surroundings. He wasnt too bad in the Tiger too! Rob and Mo in the Mustangs were excellant and the Harvard formation was very well flown and the Chipmunks too… A great day out.
Melvyn you only went around twice, there was a guy in a Wittman Tailwind that went around at least 6 times!
Cheers
Paul

Oh, and Melvyn, i did notice your multiple go-arounds, sounds like you got caught up with the sunday drivers! Lovely to see the Cloudster in the flesh at last, well done she is absolutely gorgeous and a testament to your hard work, patience and determination. Superb!
Thanks Chris,
The Microlights were a pain, not in general as I spend most of my time at Popham where there are loads of them!, but those two in particular. The first came in on a straight in approach calling one mile final! ONE MILE FINAL IN A FLEXWING! Gimme a break. That was totally unnecessary and messed up everyone that was flying a proper circuit. He also flew a slow approach but not as slow as the second one I got caught behind. He joined the circuit in front of me and I extended downwind to give him space. His final approach could not have been at more than about 30mp as I was stonking up behind him and he appeared to be staying still, I had 60 on the clock at one time which is lower than I really want on final.
Both had the option of a fast approach as both would lose speed very quickly and both could have landed long as the parking was at the far end of an 800 yard strip. This would have allowed me to come in after either of them. Instead I had to go around twice in a very bust circuit which is not the safest thing to do as people were joining from above. Both were selfish and their airmanship was definitely suspect.
And it cost me money.
Still, the day was fun and thanks for the nice words about the dearwings.

What a thoroughly enjoyable day as usual! Superb displays by everyone today, but highlights for me had to be Pete Kynsey in TFC’s Corsair – that guy is in the zone! Rob Davies (of course!) in Big B, he uses the backdrop superbly (well he does live there!) and Will Curtis in the Su26, who amazes me everytime i see him, how can man and machine be put through so much punishment! Excellent.
Also lovely to see was the very tight Chipmunk trio, the ‘Red Sparrows’ – he he. I’d like to think Steve Young was up there with them, he would have loved it i’m sure!
So.. Well done all involved in the air and on the ground!

Woodchurch was a bit good, landed back in Norfolk at 8pm, nicely sunburnt as usual. Converted another person into enjoying airshows into the bargain..
Nice to see you Melvyn, that Rearwin is lovely.
