This tower stands approx 200m back from the threshold at the western end of the main runway, Inline.. It looks old enough to be wartime,
Any ideas of what it was used for ?

No gents that is the standard MK.1 distraction tower placed there to confuse people after they finished entombing all of the pristine spitfires in a vault below.

Well its four telegraph poles so a substantial erection, maybe it was to support a tank, or a veiwing platform

Looks like a temporary photography stand but I can’t find any references to air shows at Witchford.

I don’t think that timber looks 70yrs old.
