Woodford Air show

Sorry if this is a bit vague but someone may be able to help….

I grew up near Woodford in Cheshire and I remember seeing a Spitfire at an Airshow which would have been circa 1972, and I was just wondering which one it was.

I was chatting with a mate today and he thought it would probably of been either AB910, MH434 or G-AIDN.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

Thanks Roger.

What a great website, it looks like my mate was nearly spot-on:) .

If the show I saw was in 1971 then the Spit would have been AB910, if it was 1972 then it would have been either PM651 or MH434. It’s a shame I can’t remember the exact year but I was very young at the time.

Thanks again.

Bob.

Assuming we are talking flying Spitfires at an Airshow here.

PM651 is a surviving but static Spitfire.

This looks like a ‘typo’ for the BBMF’s PM631.

Glad to have been of help.

I found the web site a few years ago when I finally go round to getting my slide lists up to date, trying to identify aircraft registrations just from the codes or squadron markings.

Have a look on the Scramble web sit at their show reports page. There are some listings for Woodford in the early 70’s.
