World War II aircraft toy sells for £10k at auction!!

Just spotted this on the BBC website – has anyone else had such a find, perhaps from the loft or purchased at a boot sale or similar?

😮 Now look what you’ve done re tractors ………… – note to self, ‘keep calm and roll on November 12th!’

As for ‘aviation collectables’ I’ll resist the urge to add a weblink and leave it at saying – “Saturday December 8th 2012!!” 😀

I wonder why Spitfireman, ie, Baz, is keeping under the radar on this, perchance he has a……………………………..MASSEY FERGUSON.

Just thought you should know :diablo:

If the other one of these doesn’t sell at Newark….then you’ll surely find it on the stall at Shoreham! 😀

From what I’m starting to understand about people who are into their ‘aviation collectables’ (I understand that some of them don’t like the phrase toys) – they have many similar foibles to ‘aviation enthusiasts’ and the like, re colour schemes, originality, provenance etc.! 😉

Plus don’t get me started on vintage tractors!!! 😮

I cannot think for one minute why you should think like that Mr Rocketeer!! 😀

The real reason it caught my eye was that with some of the educational activities I help with at NAM we have similar items for the young people to pass round and look at in the ‘World War II / Evacuee’ sessions – whilst obviously not in original boxes etc. perhaps they’re more valuable than we thought. Perhaps they need re-assessing!! 😉

During the day I also came round to thinking about an object that’s on display – a hand carved and painted wooden aeroplane. This was made by a German POW for a schoolboy who lived on a local farm and this item always attracts some interesting discussions with visiting school parties! 🙂
