All,
The dates for Thunder Over Michigan 2010 will be August 7th & 8th.
The theme will be “The Gathering of Fortresses and Legends…..The Final Mission”.
At this time we have seven B-17’s attending and are working on more!
(our 2005 gathering had a world record eight B-17’s attend)

When do the “world record” figures start from? I’d have thought the world’s largest gathering of B-17’s was probably over Germany in WWII?
Sounds like a great event you’re going to have though.

Looks like a pretty good line- up. But I can’t help noticing that there is no A-26 Invader on the list. Are there none available, or isn’t it interesting?

Assume he was referring to the full participants list on the website (first post) under “Performers and Attractions”.
7 B17s, B24, Me262, Bf109, 6 P51s (inc. the Horsemen), 2 B25s, Super Hornet…quite the show right there!

He just gave a list of the B-17s attending.
I’m sure the event will have other types.
Why an emphasis on the B-17 (after all there are 13 flying worldwide)?
This year marks the types 75th anniversary.
And this year marks the DC-3s 75th birthday as well.
I believe that type will be honored at AirVenture.

I guess I should have noted that I was referring to the list on http://www.yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/

I saw 3 of em this morning 🙂
Lucky #¤%*&?£§… I had the chance to look those 3 over with a fine tooth comb last December. Courtesy the owner of the two local a/c. 79G is really looking good compared to when I last saw the plane, sitting forlorn minus a wing at Holman Field in Minneapolis. Is that one flying much these days?

During WW2 were any B-17’s operated by the RAF and if so does anybody know of any photos of the aircraft?

Would of been in Michigan at that time if it weren’t for the ******* immigration officials denying me entry earlier this month :@
If Fifi and Ol’ 927 joined them for that, it would be truly incredible.

Yes by RAF Coastal Command. If you put the words ‘RAF B-17’ in to Google images you will see a few photos.

OK, I need to apologize to the group. I was hoping to have a video of Mac Hodges flight up last night, but unfortunately I ran into some technical difficulties. We have added a new HD camera for shooting video at these event, but I just got it last wednesday (the day before I left for the event) and having figured out all the details yet. So I was having a bit of a learning curve in preparing HD video for upload to YouTube and simply ran out of time last night. I think (knock on wood) I have it figured out now. I’ll try to get that video up tonight after the day at the field.
