What do you think is the worst advert on TV?? For my money, it’s that bloody BMW advert – that tune is so annoying!! π‘

Ocean Finance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! π‘ π‘
Seconded. Hate it, hate it, hate it, along with the vast majority of daytime tv adverts. Definately one of the drawbacks of being able to work from home. Although I suppose I could just switch the telly off…

At the moment, for me it is a tie between
“Dad, I need a wee”
And the tea ad where they have some minor US celebrity visiting her British aunt but the aunt has to use her surname in case anybody watching doesn’t know how much the tea company have spent on their ad.
Best by far is the full 90 second version of “Hate something, change something, make something better” Honda diesel ad, absolutely spiffing.
If you are on broadband you can see it on the www.honda.co.uk site

Arthur. Sometimes, the debate is so compelling that mere spelling has to remain secondee.

What about all the adverts that portray men as juvenille, ineffective or just plain stupid. The women, meanwhile are sassy, switched on, not to say rather smug. What about the Heinekin ad…
Only men who can’t write Heineken are juvenile, ineffective or just plain stupid. The rest is OK :dev2:

Why the h*** do you watch German TV??? DonΒ΄t you have a nudie-channel in Austria? π
By: Distiller - 10th October 2004 at 21:34
Watch German tv and you’ll know what really bad tv commercials are!!! Only good thing over here are the tons of nudies they have in their spots …

What about all the adverts that portray men as juvenille, ineffective or just plain stupid. The women, meanwhile are sassy, switched on, not to say rather smug. What about the Heinekin ad, when we are invited to laugh at the truck driver who gets beaten-up and hospitalised by his wife and female marriage guidance counciler, because he is trasporting lager. Luckily, he is white, and male, so that is all ok. Switch it round , so the man is beating up the women, and see how funny it is then.
Don’t forget the commercial with ‘ Tony and Debs ‘ from Men Behaving badly, where he is obliged to portray an utterly infantile burke, astonished by the delights and surprises resulting from a visit to B&Q.
Will there ever come a time when men are not characterised as having an obsession with football, or some other bone-headed sport? I couldn’t give a flying fig about ‘footy’ and will go out of my way to avoid it, the crass values and latent aggression which it represents. There is a current commercial where three vacuous males sit unspeaking, transfixed by the images (of football goals) on the microscopic screen of a cell-phone. Is it possible to live a smaller, duller life than this third-hand, fifth-rate existance, to be conditioned into watching a very distorted view of somebody else’s life ( and edited by others who wish to condition your response) rather than actually living a life of your own.
TV Averts- If they have got what you want, they have got you.

Any ad to do with hair care products. They always seem about 20 years late.
The Toyota Avensis ad where the characters witter on about being on the board etc. They all need a baseball bat around the ears.

BMW “worse car” are you speaking from experience, my Mrs drives an X5 and swears by it
Hi Steve, worse than that advert, not worst ever car. the last one i drove was a 3 series (1992ish 325i ) and it felt like a cortina after driving my Saab 9-3 cabrio π . personal choice i know but just my 2pw. i have to admit though i very nearly bought a BMW, it was a classic BMW 2002 2 door. wish i had now considering the way they have increased in value π
best regards.
Greg
btw, i’m not saying the cortina was a bad car π just didn’t stir the soul like a really good car can :diablo: π

BMW-ad – which one? That silly 1-Series with the “Principal-of-joy”-song??? They stopped building nice cars in 9/87.
Cheers

I once did a little checking when I owned a SAAB 9000.
I compared the figures for the 9000 against the nearest thing BMW had as a competitor and this is what I found out:
The BMW is one second faster 0-60 , 3 mpg more fuel efficient and a lot of the BM’s optional extras were standard on the SAAB. For all this BMW charged you 5000 quid for the privilege.
As for the worst advert, there are so many I don’t know where to start.

By: plawolf - 7th October 2004 at 21:13
omg, where to start? all the legal and personal finance ones are totally crap and should be made illegal cos of the amount of disdress they cause, but the one that takes the biscuit is the winsil double glazing ads. that half bold bloke should be shot for inflicting that kind of agony on mankind! π‘
