Would NX611 be alowed to fly ?

Hi

Total fantasy here but just imagine if the owners of NX611 wanted to fly it would BAE need to become involved or not as they were not to keen on the Shack coming over to Coventry and also what would the CAA say ?

Yup, excellent period feel…..
Well, apart from the one with the Fordson or Fergy tractor towing her, which would have been a cracker except for the rather obvious white fibreglass house on wheels thing off to the right hand side……

Excellent pics Hatton, please do post more…as Lancman points out, the Lanc is a “night owl”, therefore night time pics of her are most fitting in my opinion 🙂

Thank you for the kind comments, all photographs from 35mm. Most in original format some converted although im trying to remember which 🙂

If you convert a photograph from colour straight to b/w then I think it is often worth making minor adjustments with the nd levels and contrast to get results.

Will post more when i have time 🙂

Lovely pictures! We’re so used to seeing a perfect, shiny PA474 on a sunny day, you forget that the Lancaster was a nocturnal beast…

Lovely photos, Hatton and thanks for posting them.

They remind me that the Lancaster has to be one of the most beautiful of all aeroplanes. Forget its purpose, just concentrate on its lines…function and grace from every angle.

Agree completely Lancman, lets face it if she was to become airworthy then she wouldnt be able to stay at East Kirkby and this would mean no more night taxi runs and no authentic bomber base museum. Without its star exhibit it would be a shadow of its former self.

Think ive posted this before but you can never get enough Lanc pictures 🙂 beats the recent glut of Spits and Mustangs 😉

…doesn’t mean someone can’t ask anew!

I should imagine she’d get a ferry permit, maybe, to wherever she’d need to go to be stripped down to the nitty-gritty, be re-sparred, etc etc; then again, why not just play much safer and take her by road, eh?

I still think that while PA474 is up and running, she’s better off how and where she is; she should only fly if we suddenly, God-forbid, find ourselves lacking an airworthy Lanc in the UK. 😮
