as i work for dixons, i would have to say if you want to go for one of those cameras, go for the fuji s5000, it far more advanced, the 3000, is not that nice to work,

My friend had the same camera as Kev and had trouble using it for anything moving – try looking at the Olympus C-7xx range. Lots of pixels, big zooms and good for use at airpoers (I use an older version to these cameras).
They’ll be around the £300 mark.

Britannia.
I use the model that came out before that one, the Fuji 2800Z. As far as I am aware they are very similar except the model you are looking at has a higher number of pixels. I understand that the S3000 still has a significant shutter lag so shots in the air are difficult but I seem to get some decent ones now. It’s a matter of trying to pan the camera to capture the a/c which you can no longer see as the view finder goes black. I’ve learned from others on here to use mainly the optical zoom as the digital zoom reduces picture quality. On the setting I use for the pics I post on here I can get well over 100 photos on a 32 mb media card. Invest in some rechargeable batteries and a charger as well. It’s also much more efficient to buy a card reader that plugs directly into a USB port for downloading. Doing it direct from the camera really drains the batteries. Card readers come with the software needed and cost about £20. If you’re buying from a shop have a go at haggling and they might throw something in for free. With mine I got the batteries and charger free.
Hope this helps.

Seems like a very good camera. Its pixel amount (3.2) is a bit limited by todays standard but as long as you don’t intend to print large size photos (A4 and larger) it should not be a problem. Check the link and in particular the users comments!
