Hi all
this wreckage was found in Germany when a pond was laid dry. It looks like an aircraft part – it is still stuck in the ground and there possibly is more ‘material’ attached to it, presently not visible.
Anyone recognizes this ‘thing’ ? At first glance I’d say turbo-charger……
Thanks for your insights.

So……did we ever get to the bottom of this piece of wreckage?
Swissmustang can you provide us with an update please?
Thanks

those supercharger were used on P-38 and P-47 as well… what is weird is that they looked “coupled”, and what i know is that the P-47 had the two stage two speed supercharger..
Might sound a lil easy, but we might well be in front of a P-47 wreck, as we all know plane wrecks were often dropped in ponds during the war..

Maybe they are the reason the pond is there !

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I seem to remember that these General Electric turbosuperchargers were fairly standard and were used on the B-24 and P-47 as well. So finding just one of those turbos gives a clue that it is indeed an american type but no more than that.

Hi Martin,
It appears at first glance to be the Turbo off a B-17 do you have any more photos?
Cheers
