I’m with Trumper on this one. My Mother had an expression, more to be pitied than blamed, and I think that covers this case. Whilst personally finding the thought of incest repulsive, I think there has to be an acknowledgement that it continues today largely unseen. In this case, I think education and guidance is what is needed rather than a punishment. There should also be an assessment of their intellect so that any guidance is appropriate to their levels of understanding. If a punishment is deemed necessary, it should be for engaging in sexual activity in public rather than due to the familial relationship between the participants.

It does, however, potentially open up a whole crate of cans of worms regarding the legality or otherwise of a number of sexual practices.

They are probably going to spend the rest of their lives being punished and chastised in some form or other,it has happened they didn’t hurt anyone else so i also feel guidance is a better way.

Charlie – I cannot see how punishing them would achieve anything. At some stage in their lives the people who have been teaching them morals have clearly failed. Therefore they need education to realise that what they are doing is wrong. Giving them a punishment isn’t going to improve their morals but more likely
to cause resentment.

Would someone run past me why he alone was added to the sex offenders register and not both of them (given that both are adults). Im sure i must have missed something somewhere

Indeed, in fact why put either on the Sex Offenders register? I always took that to be in place to warn people of the threat, the only person he was a “threat” to was his sister, and she was well aware of it, though I use the word “threat” reservedly as she seemed to be a willing participant.

If they were punished they would quickly understand.

While it is not an activity I would partake of myself why is it illegal?
It’s a bit like making suicide illegal. A bit pointless really.
Going to charge them with having consential sex while a certain cleric who wants to bring down the government can’t be touched?

Punished for breaking the law I should have thought, then it shouldn’t take too much “counselling” to explain what was wrong.

What point would be community service be – they need some sort of councelling to understand what they did was wrong . Their actions didn’t have any effect on anyone else apart from bringing shame on their family.

Custody is pointless but a good dose of community service would have been more appropriate. What a miserable pair of morons!

Allowing for the fact that it was not reported in a “newspaper” if the basic facts are right I’d rather not know anymore.

I suspect that there was a lot more to this story than was ever made public.

Humans are animals with basic animal instincts.We then add morals to our rules and lives which generally work.You go back in time -not too far in some places and sex amongst family members was pretty “normal” .Many a true word spoken in jest about the villages in the Fens [and of course elsewhere in the country] . What’s the saying a standing prick has no conscience.
These youngsters obviously aren’t the full ticket and need help .
Regarding Andys post above,i think i will go to prison.I’ve had enough of getting up at stupid o’clock in the morning,not seeing the family some days and having to put up with the great unwashed .
