Hi just purchased a group of medals to a f/sgt Telfer 1390942 10 squadron who was navigator on Halifax Hx181.The aircraft crashed after operations to bomb a target in Leverkusen. The aircraft was trying to land at R.a.f Tangmere and unfortunately crashed into a servicing hanger destroying 6 Typhoon 3 Spitfire and 2 Lysanders.I have done quite a lot of research at present and have seen a lot of info on various sites.I am now wondering if anybody knows of any pictures of the incident or indeed of the crew please.

hi
Thanks for that didnt think of the that info just carried away by what was on the net.I must admit for an aircrew group they were high but the history surrounding them is an incredible and sad story.

F/Sgt Telfer
I bid on the same group, but the end price was a little high for me.
I noticed the box of issue had an address in Streatham South London. Worth getting in touch with the local library and ask them to check the local paper at around that time of his reported death. There will also be a local historic society that I’m sure may well help (the library should have details). The AHB might have records of the crash. Hendon will have a copy of the accidents cards for all the aircraft destroyed, finally Tangmere Museum might be able to help. I’m sure Mr Saunders might throw some light on it too!
