WW2 Control Tower Question

Of all the existing control towers, which is the best original control tower that is still standing? Towers that have been fully restored can only count if they had alot of original fittings remaining prior to restoration.

East Kirkby home of Just Jane ? No doubt restored in 1940’s style but it feels very authentic

Or how about St Mawgan, the only WWII tower still in full RAF service!

Bicester would be a great one, as you said it is a perfectly preserved time-warp of an airfield. Great crowd at the Windrushers Gliding Club as well.

How about Bicester?

Best of all, still attached to a perfectly preserved ‘timewarp’ aerodrome!

Some good ones there REF! My vote would have to be Little Snoring as it looks like a perfect candidate!

Wish I could afford to buy and restore one of those you mentioned REF. They look so lonely….

So many to choose from really Peter, places like Skipton on Swale look good, Bodney, Ingham, Coleby Grange are all candidates but I think Little Snoring is one of the best I have seen.

One of the worst has to be Metheringham.

Why dont you put the question up on Airfield Information Exchange? See who comes up with some more suggestions there.
