WW2 Messerschmitt Bf110 crash – Belgium

Hello in my village Kapellen(Glabbeek) BELGIUM near Louvain and Tienen a Messeschmitt BF110 was shot down as i was told by Wally MC Cleod on 19/4/44.
I found records on the plaine and the accident.Telling it is abouth ME110 G-4 Werknr 740148 11NJG1 G9+HZ Pilot UFFZ Alfred Wachtel killed(he was born in Meisen GE)
A eyewithness showed me the crash place and i started detecting.I found some small pieces and a very small plate .
MARKED; BAUART 110B WERK-NR 220 SACH-NR 84500 .So this is an other WERK-NR as in the records.AND MORE all the withnesses are shure it was summer , at least august and not april as in the records. So now i am wondering if we are talking abouth the same airplane.
CAN SOMEBODY HELP,
regards André Bruyninckx

hi,indeed he claimed a DO217;Cynrik De Decker who is an expert on aviation told me that he toke the plane for a DO217 as it has a twin-tail just like the BF 110.It seems that the only DO217 that was shot on 19/4/44 crashed in the Northsee. There is an German report(Deutshe nachtjagd -materialverluste) telling;Capellen 8km N of Tienen,19/4/44 by UBERFUHRUNGSFLUGT with BF110 G9 HZ Wnr 740148 Uffz A Wachtel was killed. The only discussion is the date because 5 eyewithnesses are telling me ;it was in the summer 44 at least july:august
thanks André

S/L Henry Wallace “Wally” McLeod, RCAF was flying a Spitfire Mk-321. On 19 April 1944 he shot down Me-110 Werk number 740148 G9+HZ from 11./NJG1 which came down at Kappellen,8 km north of Tirlemont Belgium, killing pilot Uffz Wachtel Alfred.
The plate: BAUART 110B WERK-NR 220 SACH-NR 84500 would have been attached to a component of the same plane, unfortunately it does not include the makers name, so cannot identify component.

Bauart = construction type. 110B so fits Me 110B (Possible others)
Sach-nr 845500 = Drawing number of the component.
Werk-NR 220 = Works number of the manufacturer of the component.

‘CRASH MESSERCHMITT’ title…a simple tweak from the mods (‘what do you mean, even you need to sleep’?). Still, 1300 views, so plenty of airing.

Really? You straight away automatically assumed and panicked that a Messerschmitt had just crashed? Lots of them flying about I suppose…can’t believe you’re being so melodramatic. Breathe, Gentlemen, Breathe.

Here, a (Messerschmitt) grip for those of you who need to get one:

Sorry André, I cannot help with your query. Good luck.

Agreed but we still read it as such,it was more of a ask for the Mods if the author can’t.

Yes, please add a date to any title with the word CRASH in capital letters.
It is unnecessarily alarming.

Thanks
